West Carrollton is making big changes to 2 downtown areas. Here’s what it’s planning.
West Carrollton Demolition

The Roberd’s furniture and appliance store in West Carrollton has finally met its fate after closing more than 18 years ago. Along with Roberd’s, the adjoining Carrollton Plaza is now rubble as Green City Demolition competes the work along East Central Avenue. The City of West Carrollton wants to attract a developer to anchor a multi-million dollar entertainment district along the river and part of that plan involved a $662,450 contract to clear the shopping center site.

Just over a mile west on Central, another project in West Carrollton is one step closer to being built. The city has approved the sale of seven acres of land from the former Fraser paper mill to Spike-it, LLC, “an experienced operator of indoor/outdoor volleyball facilities” in the Cincinnati area, according to West Carrollton records. The land is being sold for $40,000 per acre.
