Hazardous materials such as asbestos, mold and lead are frequently encountered on demolition sites. These substances pose serious risks to health, safety, and the environment if not handled properly. Before any demolition project can proceed, all hazardous materials must be identified, removed, and disposed of in strict accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. Failure to do so can lead to project delays, legal consequences, and safety hazards.

Hazardous materials are the most difficult type of material to dispose. Due to their inability to decompose, we unfortunately must place this waste in a landfill. Landfills that take in hazardous materials are lined with a barrier which prevents waste from contaminating local soil and groundwater sources. This waste is then covered with soil preventing any exposure to the air.
However, there are many hazardous waste materials such as paints, batteries, motor oil, propane cylinders, and aerosol cans are recyclable. Recycling is the most environmentally friendly disposal process we have available. Diverting waste from landfills into recycling not only keeps waste out of landfills but reduces the consumption of raw materials.
