Continental Center 150 E Gay Columbus Interior Demolition

The first part of the demolition was to remove three cooling towers within the Continental Center. The cooling towers were welded together so GCD | PDI had to torch the cooling towers apart allowing us to take the cooling towers down safely.

The second part of the demolition included the removal of drywall containing asbestos. Almost the entire building was built with asbestos drywall as 25 of the 26 floors were comprised of it. During the demolition process certain columns, and the HVAC system, needed to remain intact while the demolition process was on-going. Along with the drywall, the ceiling tiles were also required to be taken down. Since the building was declared a historical place in 2021, we needed to take extra caution during their removal. The ceiling tiles were then preserved and salvaged for future use.
